The ceremony, initially scheduled at ENSGTI in December, brought together 90 people by videoconference on Monday, February 14, 2022, including some fifteen external partners.
University of Pau and Pays de l’Adour President Laurent Bordes explained that the Talents’ Academy was set up when the I-SITE label was obtained in 2017. The objective is to attract the most promising students at Licence 3, Master 1 and Master 2 levels.
Selection is based on criteria of excellence through a call for applications open to all courses within the E2S perimeter (Energy and Environment). The winners receive a grant of 6,000 to 8,000 euros to enable them to devote themselves fully to their studies. They are also encouraged to pursue their studies up to doctorate level and are made aware of entrepreneurship.
In order to strengthen UPPA’s international visibility, the call for projects is conducted in two waves: the first wave, which is adapted to international recruitment schedules, is reserved for candidates from foreign universities targeted as priorities, and candidates are presented by their academic deans. The second wave is open to all other candidates, including foreign students applying directly.
Olivier Donard, Emeritus Director of Research at the CNRS, then gave a lecture on “Inorganic signatures, speciation and non traditional isotopes: from the lab to the glass.” Eliane Sbrugnera, former Academic Dean, then gave a brief presentation of each laureate and each course concerned.
Finally, at the end of the ceremony, 10 professional meetings took place (students selected by the companies), one of which resulted in a permanent contract offer for September 2022 and the others in an internship offer.
