Tenure track position _ Research Chair with industrial partnerships

Job profile

The recruitment of an ecotoxicologist, chemist and / or biologist, is expected to address the physicochemical and biological mechanisms governing the effects of micropollutants and their fate, in continental aquatic environments in the context of global changes.

The candidate will have expertise in ecotoxicological experimentation at different scales of complexity (microcosm, mesocosm, natural environment) to address the study and characterization of bioavailability, mechanisms of bio-assimilation and toxicity of micropollutants.

The candidate will have to address the following topics through its research activities and / or collaborations with scientists of the Institute of Analytical Sciences and Physico-Chemistry for the Environment and Materials (IPREM UMR 5254 UPPA / CNRS) via experiments in microcosm and mesocosm (Total mesocosm facility): (i) the study of the bioavailability and the environmental impact of micropollutants resulting from industrial discharges, (ii) the use of biominerals as a biomonitoring tool and (iii) the use of meta-genomic / transcriptomic-based assessment methods, e-DNA and identification of key microbial functions to elaborate ecological bioindicators.

Key words: Micropollutants (metallic and organic) / Bioavailability / Bioaccumulation / Toxic effects / Trophic transfer / Global changes / Biomonitoring / Bioindicators.

Working conditions

Total, Rio Tinto, and the University of Pau (UPPA) have decided to jointly contribute to the strengthening of Aquatic Ecotoxicology research within the framework of E2S UPPA through a partnership chair within the Chemistry and Microbiology cluster of the Environment (CME) of the IPREM.

Hosting laboratory: Institute of Analytical Sciences and Physico-Chemistry for Environment and Materials (IPREM) - Joint Research Unit CNRS / UPPA (UMR 5254)

Localisation address: Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour, campus of Pau, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, France

Length: tenure track position of a period of 5 years
The selected candidate must have a proven experience in scientific research and will be recruited for a period of 5 years with a status of teacher-researcher (i.e. Lecturer)

Employer: Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour (UPPA)

Candidates must submit the following documents in pdf format on  E2S UPPA's platform: https://aap-e2s.univ-pau.fr

  1. Detailed Curriculum Vitae (5 pages)
  2. Letter of Intent on the research project (2 pages)
  3. Letter (s) of recommendations (maximum 3)

 Application deadline: March 8th, 2019

Candidates selected on file will then be invited to prepare a scientific project which they will have to present to a selection committee (May 2019)
