Scientific background / Project description

In the framework of the Mesmic Scientific  Hub (Metal in Environmental Systems Microbiology), E2S UPPA (I-Site E2S - Energy Environment Solution https://organisation.univ-pau.fr/fr/nos-atouts/des-labels-d-excellence/le-label-i-site-avec-le-projet-e2s/) and  the University of Pau, France (https://www.univ-pau.fr/)  invite applications from highly qualified individuals for a 3-year postdoctoral fellow  position (PDF) to start in 2019.

The successful applicant will work at the IPREM Institute on the dynamic and associated isotopic fractionation of iron in the environment.

The position will consist in:

  1. Developing the measurement of the isotopic composition of iron species using MC-ICPMS and method application in contrasted environments
  2. Performing experiments to trace abiotic and biotic isotopic fractionation of Fe under environmental conditions.

Starting period: Mid 2019

Duration: 3 years

Gross salary range: 35 k€ / year (which includes extra gratification for teaching duties – 64h)

Funding: This postdoc position is funded by the project E2S UPPA (Energy Environment Solutions) which has a core scientific domain focused on Environment and Energy to meet challenges related to the energy transition, geo-resources, aquatic habitats and the environmental effects of natural and  anthropogenic changes.


Young Researcher skills required

Candidates should have strong experience in aqueous and isotope geochemistry. The ability to work in an interdisciplinary team environment (Analytical Chemistry-Biogeochemistry-Microbiology) is essential.

The applicant will teach environmental sciences in the University (64 hours/year). For this reason, candidates should have an excellent academic track at least in one of this different area.
