Conference for companies and local authorities on Acceptability At 5:30 pm in Pau, amphitheater of the Presidency of UPPA

Tuesday, October 19, 2021 from 5:30 pm to 7 pm

University of Pau and Pays de l’Adour, Amphitheatre of the Presidency, Avenue de l’Université, 64000 PAU

Conference by Xavier Arnauld de Sartre, CNRS research director, director of the UMR TREE (CNRS/UPPA laboratory), holder of the E2S UPPA research chair “Territories in energy and environmental transitions.”

“Acceptability, or the need to reinvent mediations”

Energy and environmental transitions are the subject of social contestation that places the question of acceptability at the heart of policy formulation.

But what are we talking about when we talk about acceptability?

This conference will review this notion and test it against specific energy and environmental transition projects. If acceptability tells us a lot about contemporary social trends, it cannot be reduced to a face-to-face confrontation between populations and projects: it is from the absence of mediation that problems are born, and in the reinvention of the latter that solutions are found.

A conference by CEPyA, UPPAs Business Club

Created 4 years ago, the CEPyA aims to bring together all the companies and local authorities that have, or wish to have, a link with the actions carried out at the University of Pau and Pays de l’Adour (research, training, development). It has more than thirty members, from start-ups to large groups (Enedis, Eiffage Construction Sud Aquitaine, DeepConcept, GDTech France, the CCI Pau Béarn...).

This conference comes two weeks after its general assembly in the presence of UPPA president Laurent Bordes, who greeted and thanked its members by offering them the book on the 50 years of UPPA. On this occasion, UPPA sociologists Evelyne Barthou and Yann Bruna had also presented their study Transicovid on work in times of confinement, and Arnaud Barillet from Aract Nouvelle-Aquitaine had analyzed what the crisis has revealed about change management in companies.
