New fuelsUnderstanding the molecular structure of hydrocarbons (Florida State University)

TOTAL RAFFINAGE CHIMIE and the joint laboratory “Complex Matrices Molecular Characterization” (C2MC) including TOTAL, UPPA and the University of Rouen, is engaged in a collaboration with the Future Fuel Institute (National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, Florida State University).

This collaboration aims at improving the characterization of complex matrices, such as heavy crude oils and biofuels, specifically during the refining processes.

The project was been initiated in 2014 and will take an important step forward in 2017 with a PhD jointly supervised by NHMF Lab (FSU) and C2MC Lab (IPREM, UPPA). Johnathan Putman, the future PhD student will work on the characterization of metals in complex matrices, benefiting from FSU (Pr. Alan Marshall, Ryan Rodgers), TOTAL RC (Caroline Mangote, Pierre Giusti) and UPPA (Brice Bouyssiere) facilities and expertise.
